Zshot New PTW hop up and barrel combo

Postby jaybirdritenour on Mon Jan 11, 2016 3:43 am

Zshot has designed what I believe is a R-hop style Hop up for the PTW with proprietary barrel in both Brass and steel. It is an expensive set up but I believe they are seeing good results. Any body on here tried one yet? I'm thinking of using one in an upcoming build.

Jay, on Facebook, there is a NA PTW group, and has been discussed a bit there on several topics.

From what I remember people said it was "ok" but couldn't give more feedback saying since of its design, like some AEG hop setup, it needs a break in period. What was said if I remember correctly, is that the few who used it did notice a range increase, but consistency wasnt a good as an orga setup someone was using (again they said could be break in period )

Issue they ran into was the same issue I had on my Rhop mod.
You need a chamfer in place to catch the BB as it gets loaded so it doesn't get fed part way into the flat hop.
Without the chamfer (the orga flat has one if you wanna see an example), the BBs fly straight side to side, but have random amounts of hopup applied.

Although the design is stellar, it needs a stopper to hold the BB before the patch.
An individual stopped would be best, as if it is attached to the patch (as in orga flat or my rhop), then the retention of the BB has to be matched with hop applied. That is to say, when you apply enough pressure for it to stop the BB, you're also applying a lot of hop. So you need to tune the length of the patch, or the height of the stopper.

I'm not exactly sure why Rhop and flat hop in an AEG don't require such a stopper, but they don't and PTWs do.
And no it has nothing to with with the spring tension on the air nozzle/tappet plate: they're about the same on both platforms.

My major concern for their design was the width of the patch. If it was narrow enough, the BB could ride on either side on a slight angle, imparting a slice into the BB's flight path. But that doesn't seem to be the case.

Excellent design, but apparently still has one issue to work out.

Yeah, I'd be curious of how now that it's out of beta, as seems there were a post or 2 there saying there may be a stopper (hard for me to check atm, as on phone), or something along the lines you mentioned thunder
