Any recent tests with PTWs and Bioval BBBMAX .27s?

Postby WARPIG [USMC] on Wed Mar 10, 2010 7:48 am

I did a search on the forum, and the latest info on someone testing the Bioval BBBMAX .27s (the clear ones) was back in 2008.

Has anyone else tested these in their PTW? Everywhere that sells them claims it "fixes" the PTW chopping problem, basically stating that they wont chop in your gun.

I planned on picking up a few bags for an upcoming Op, so any info from anyone who has used these recently would be greatly appreciated!

If you are referring the bioval clear bbs that has the same structure as glass, of course they won't chop - for that very reason. Furthermore have they been banned at most milsim events in europe as they WILL take out a tooth even at M100 -they will shatter a windscreen...also at low velocity.

But hey..... they might not be the same, but i just see a red flag when someone mentions Bioval.

Yup, those are the ones! LOL

Have they been actually tested at low velocity to see their potential damage? I know when the first reports of them came out describing them as "dangerous", that windsheild they shot was from a gun shooting 550fps if Im not mistaken.

They won't chop but they will completely f**k up your PTW if there are any feed issues.

DO NOT use these under any circumstances as they will ruin your day.

The problem is their surface texture. rather than slide over one another (BB's need to do this in a double stacked mag) they grip, stick and jump.

This means that they do not feed properly (especialy in cold weather) and istead of chopping the BB the hop unit and the hardened steel airseal nozzel are damaged.

This is beacsuse the BB becomes trapped between the nozzel and hop unit and when the piston comes flying back it hammers on into the other.

Result: Replacement hop body and airseal nozzel required.

I had 5 PTW's go down in the space of 10 minutes using these, including one of my own.

They are the roundest most straight shooting BB out there, but do not use them in your PTW.

You are mistaken...I've seen this upclose in several games in Europe. It's glass and they dont get mashed or deformed. Try melting one with a lighter, you'll only make it hot, it'll stay nice and round ;)

So for your fellow airsofters and PTWs sake, stay clear of them.

Copy that...thanks for the heads up, fellas!

I'll save my PTW and my wallet the trouble. 8-)

Any recommendations on good Bio BBs (.25-.28) that feed smooth in the PTW? Preferably purchased in the US.

I'm not familiar with the US markets, but me and my fellow airsofters have lot's of good experience about G&G bio BBs. They come in .20 .25 and .28 weights. These G&G bio BBs are nowadays standard ammo here in Finland.

I was actually going to try those. Good to hear they do the job...they are plentiful here in the States. Thanks! :D

Here's a Bioval horror story/pic incase you had any thoughts about them doing damage. :) The kid brought his car on the field half as a scenario type thing, and half cause he just wanted to, stray Bioval hit the center concave of the passenger side window, and that's all she wrote. The chunks of safety glass looked cool though!

For your BB issue though, I've had good luck with KSC's .25's, and TSD's line of 25's and 28's. All can be bought within the U.S. either by the bag or those bundle packages that ASGI does on their site. :)

YIKES! Looks like I wont be investing in those after all. Its a shame, too...they were so promising...

I'll be picking up some G&G Bios soon. As far as non-bios, anyone try Madbull .25s?

Madbull 0.25's are about the best I've tried (and I've tried them all...! pretty much).

I favour the match grade but the regular precision's are just fine.
