Serious issue with chopping.

Postby Casper32 on Sun May 19, 2013 5:06 am

Hey guys, still new to PTWs but I have had my PTW for a few months. Worked flawlessly, now, it chops BBs left and right. So far I have cleaned all my mags, cylinders, hop up, turned off the hop up and then gradually adjusted, checked shims, changed from .25 to .30 Bioshot BBs, even switched to a different bag to make sure it's not a defect bag. Nothing I do stops the chopping. Any help?

Hello

Several issues can cause that:

Cilinders if used should be refited with both O-rings new, If new cilinders disregard this.
If Mags are aftermarket then check their height, Mags are original and new disregard this.
If you have cleaned the mags with some lube (silicone or other spray) re-open them and clean them dry, NO oil inside.
Check that the Chamber Packing ( BR-023 ) has a bit of lube.

Hope this helps

From my recent experience, I just purchased 2 bags of FCC new Bio BBs.

My gun hates them.

Sometimes they will feed fine, when they did they go ok to be fair, but a lot of the time they would chop and spit out the end.
Swapped back to blasters or Green Devil, problem gone. I also tried to fine tune my hop, to no success. FCC gave me a refund.

So it 'could be' the BBs. Logically this doens't make sense to me but it happened and the cure was to stop using them
You don't go out looking for a job dressed like that do you, on a weekday?

from my experience, chopping happens when I use BBs that are slightly larger (which claim 6.00+/-.001, but are usually around 5.95 avg). When I use BBs that are relatively smaller (which claim 5.95+/-.001 but are about 5.9 avg.), there are no issues.

Try using G&G or other BBs that claim 5.95mm.

Try using other high grade non-bio BBs
Bio's tend to be fairly soft, and the metal air nozzle either deforms or breaks them

1. Switch to Bio val .30 bb's, they are gonna give the best performance overall.

2. Lube your mags and check the spring tension on the BB retention arms. As Tac has mentioned in other threads, generally speaking chopping is caused by mag feed issues.

3. Pull apart the cylinder and re-lube the small retention O-ring in the cylinder head (CU-009 I believe)

4. Check the shim spacers on the buffer tube cap and try using more or less to see if it affects anything.

my problem disappeared when I switched ammo to 5.95 +0001 (king arms)
It was good as it gets. have not had any problems since.
