Question about accuracy...

Postby KeeZ on Fri Oct 19, 2012 11:47 am

Hey guys,

i got a little question.
Is there a bit difference between the precision from the "CQB" and the "normal" version ?

By precision I assume you mean accuracy, right?

None that I am aware of. I've recently dropped down from M4 to CQB and it's the best thing I've done.
Airsoft guns aren't that accurate to really see a noticeable effect anyway mate.

What I will make you aware of is the FPS 'can' go down from M4 to CQB.
The longer it's in the barrel, the longer its accelerated by the compressed air behind it

Good thread on the subject here:

http://www.systema-ptw.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=6607

I've no idea if the relationship between barrel length and accuracy has changed as a consequence of significant new developments, such as the 2012 barrel and the MDD hop. If the relationship has altered, I'm sure it's only marginal.

Ironically, I've gone the other way :D

Indeed - and you can easily control FPS at the cylinder end, anyway.

I've seen it in a shop where a customer wanted a CQB, so everything was fine tuned for 345 FPS.
Happy days

He then changed his mind and wanted a longer barrel. the FPS went up into the 360s
Not much, but it proves the point. Same hop everything, just a longer barrel.

I've also noticed it myself personally when due to issues, I had to change my hop/inner combo from CQB to my spare M4 and had to chrono my gun again and couldn't play until I unshimmed my cylinder spring as it was also in the 360s

So in the end we can say if you take a longer or shorter barrel is a matter of taste and the shorter barrel seems to be a little bit more accurate then the longer.
And the longer has more fps then the shorter.

You place shims inside the cylinder so it compresses the spring against the end cap of the spring guide assembly ASS CU 06
The more compression the higher the FPS....to a certain limit

Here's an example of a cheap plastic version, but Tac sells nice metal ones

does anyone know if there's a PTW accuracy test clip

ive seen numerous discussions about accuracy and not a single clip that does a legit accuracy test

I did a post comparing 3 or 4 different hops/barrels

My thread contained pics and a few vids
But a vid of placing a target, walking back, clamping the gun, shooting and then walking back down to the target is a bit much :)

My thread is honest and not biased toward any manufacturer for a freebie.
I did it to help out like minded lads who want the best from their PTW
