Planetary gear problem?

Postby Stig on Sun Nov 20, 2011 2:14 am

I was wondering if anyone could help me here?
I have had a problem with my 07 PTW suddenly stop working, (sounds like the battery dying in an AEG). It could be firing fine for a while, then all of a sudden it would completely stop in mid cycle. Upon further inspection I have found that the planetary gears and shafts have seized.
Can anyone shed any light onto this as to why it would happen, and if it is easily replaced?

Cheers

Hello

1st problem is that lubrification is gone.

I have had the same problem with one of my gearboxes.

Took it apart and found that due to not sufficient lubrification one of the shafts seized.

I took a close inspection and did the following:

Checked each shaft to the planetary gear to see a smooth spin.

Then i found one that was a bit more tight so i used a very fine sandpaper and grinded just enough for a smooth spin.

Put everything back together with a slight lube and it´s been working ever since.
